Selous Game Reserve is a huge, 48,000-sq-km wild territory lying at the heart of southern Tanzania. It is Africa’s largest wildlife reserve, and home to large herds of elephants, in addition to buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, wild dogs, many bird species and a portion of Tanzania’s final remaining black rhinos. Bisecting it is the Rufiji River, which cuts away past woodlands, meadows, and stands of Borassus palm, and gives unmatched water-based wildlife viewing.
Just the segment of the reserve north from the Rufiji River is open for tourism; enormous zones of the south are zoned as hunting concessions. However the abundance of Selous’ wildlife and its staggering riverine landscape once in a while neglect to inspire. Another draw is the Selous’ overall absence of congestion in comparison with Tanzania’s northern parks.
Visit soon, however: quite a bit of Selous’ wealth is under risk from poaching, a uranium mining venture and an arranged hydroelectric power venture along the Rufiji River.

Great experience with Best Northern Safaris! We did 2 tours (Safari & Climbing) with the team. The work they do is very exhausting and hard, but you always seem them laughing.
Once in a lifetime experience. Best Northern Safaris did an incredible job putting together an amazing safari. A friend of mine recommended them, and I'm so glad they did!
