This is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park, with a landscape of baobabs, dark hardwood trees and grassy plains, and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With nearly guaranteed year-round wildlife sightings, Mikumi makes a perfect safari destination for those without much time. Within its 3230 sq km – set between the Uluguru Mountains toward the northeast, the Rubeho Mountains toward the northwest and the Lumango Mountains toward the southeast – Mikumi hosts buffaloes, wildebeest, giraffes, elephants, lions, zebras, leopards, crocodiles and imperiled wild dogs, and the chances are high that you’ll see a decent sampling of these inside a brief time of entering the park.
Mikumi is a significant educational and research center. Among the different projects being carried is a continuous field study of yellow baboons, which is one of only a bunch of such long-term primate studies on the continent. Toward the south, Mikumi is contagious with Selous Game Reserve.

Great experience with Best Northern Safaris! We did 2 tours (Safari & Climbing) with the team. The work they do is very exhausting and hard, but you always seem them laughing.
Once in a lifetime experience. Best Northern Safaris did an incredible job putting together an amazing safari. A friend of mine recommended them, and I'm so glad they did!
